Xao Kene Handpainted Crop top

A wearable expression of Shipibo-Konibo artistry, this backless top is crafted from Peruvian tocuyo cotton and individually hand-painted with natural dyes by Shipibo-Konibo artisans from the Shinan Imabo Artisan Collective.

The piece features Xao Kené, a traditional kené design that represents the patterns found in fish bones, translating forms from the natural world into the intricate geometric visual language of Shipibo-Konibo art. Painted in deep black against a rich red ground, the bold composition highlights the relationship between ancestral knowledge, nature, and contemporary design.

Designed with an open, backless silhouette, the top is finished with a luxurious black silk lining and an adjustable black strap, allowing the fit to be customized to the wearer.

Each piece is painted entirely by hand using natural dyes, preserving the individual artistry of its maker and ensuring that no two are exactly alike.
